Financing Innovation in European Regions Jönköping - Småland med öarna (6th 7th November 2006) |
On the 6th and 7th of November 2006, the ERIK+ Study Visit on Innovation Finance was held in Jönköping in the region of Småland med öarna, Sweden.
The Study Visit included a half day working entitled “Financing Innovation in European Regions” during which good practices from various European regions were presented leading to a fruitful debate among participants.
The second day saw field trips to the Jönköping Science Park, where participants were taken on a tour and presented some of the important activities in the field of business creation and financing, and to one important industrial company in the region.

Elmia Congress and Concert Hall, Jönköping
Elmia began in 1961 as a trade fair for agriculture and forestry. Today Elmia arranges around 15 fairs every year within a variety of business areas. Elmia also runs a large number of customised events for external organisers, and is responsible for space rental and services.

Huskvarna Prototyper AB is a High Tech state of the art company with its main focus on forming prototypes for the Swedish market. The majority of its business is sheet metal forming, but they also undertaking welding activities. They develop accessories and work out special designs with an ingenuity recognised among people in Sweden. ”We make something out of nothing” has been a motto for the local industry in Huskvarna for generations. Advanced equipment and skilled human resources are the companies greatest assets. Huskvarna Prototyper's main customers are manufacturers of vehicles, major and small applicances including VOLVO, Saab, Scania, ABB, Elkay in USA, and Electrolux.
